Article: MESSAGE FOR GHANAIANS AHEAD OF 2020 ELECTIONS AND BEYOND -Mr. Nelson Abitty Sellasi (Ghana Man)

Patriotism is loyalty and devotion to one’s country. Loyalty is the state or quality of being faithful and or feeling of duty towards our country. Devotion is that great love: enthusiasm for or willingness to do what is required by our country.
Ghana is the country of our birth, and we are Ghanaians for that matter. We are called to be loyal to mother Ghana and to devote ourselves to Ghana our motherland.
Ghana required from us that faithful and true love, that great feeling of duty towards her. Are you a Ghanaian? Am I a Ghanaian? Who is a Ghanaian? The answers to these three questions, for me is Yes, you are a Ghanaian, Yes! I am a Ghanaian, and we are Ghanaians because, this is where our grandfathers were placed, and this is where we were born and breastfed. Ghana is where our umbilical cord was buried, where our rich history can be traced, that is why we must uphold the good name of Ghana. Be loyal to Ghana, devote yourself to Ghana and defend Ghana.
I want to liken Ghana to an egg, that has three very important parts. The Shell, which is the outer layer. The white, and the yoke. I could have chosen any other thing for this analogy but decided to use egg for a particular reason which will be explained to you later. This three-part of an egg is very important, but for the purposes of consumption, we focus more on the white and the yoke, while the shell is thrown away. But the fact still remains, there can’t be an egg without the shell, and when the shell is broken, the white and the yoke becomes a waste. To have your egg complete and safe, you must protect the shell.
Politics has taken it to root in Ghana, soo deep and firm that we are many times hit by its negative side compare to the positive. It has divided us, making us lose that sense of patriotism. The citizens are ready to sacrifice everything, even life, for their various political parties instead of mother Ghana, which ought not to be. This is retarding growth in development, in social life and all aspect of our national dealings.
In Ghana currently, politics has changed from the science of business of government into NDC and NPP, into insult and bad wishes upon our country by the followers of these political parties, depending on which of them is at opposition. Where is that spirit of patriotism? The Holy messages we receive from our various worship places could not even unite us, at the mention of NPP and NDC, we’re quickly divided. Respect for the elderly and leadership has been pushed aside, elders and leaders no longer care about what happens to the youth, all in the name of politics. Lackadaisical attitude towards public offices is the order of the day, everybody for him or her self, God for us all, has become the National Anthem. Party colors has replaced the National colors, bribery and corruption are the fashion of the day, chopping our own tongue for meat. Where is that spirit of patriotism?
Back to my analogy of the egg, the shell part of the egg, I assume to be Ghana, the white and yoke represent the two strong political parties, NDC and NPP. These two great parties are in Ghana but are not Ghana. If Ghana, as a Shell is broken, these two parties would be crushed and become a waste, just as when the shell of an egg is broken, the white and the yoke are wasted.
Ghana needs our allegiance first before any other thing, we must rather sacrifice our life for Ghana. We no longer care about our community and what happens around us, showing soo much indifference to our fellow Citizens all on the bases of politics. WHY? We are Ghanaian, not NDC and NPP. Where is that spirit of patriotism? Gone were the days when one could standstill at the hearing of the National Anthem when the Flag is being raised during the school assembly period. Today, what do we see? Some have the Flag polls standing, but no flags on it, others have completely forgotten about that tradition. People can hardly sing the National Anthem of late, come to think of the pledge
Oh! Where is that spirit of patriotism? We have lost it. Citizens of Ghana, where is your allegiance to Ghana, your only land of Hope?
The majority of us have become partisan citizens, instead of patriotic citizens. Here comes the time for us to turn the clock, to be patriotic citizens and not partisan citizens.
We promote a political agenda instead of the National agenda, we are happy and rejoice to see Ghana go down the drain than our various political parties, How? Fellow Citizens, Ghana first! We have only one Ghana. This is the voice of Ghana calling, Children of Ghana, the youth of Ghana, students of Ghana, Lawyers of Ghana, Teachers of Ghana, Nurses of Ghana, Doctors of Ghana, Traders of Ghana, Businessmen, and women of Ghana, Musician of Ghana, Comedians of Ghana, Artist of Ghana, Artisans of Ghana, Engineers of Ghana, Accountant of Ghana, Entrepreneurs of Ghana, Religious leaders of Ghana, Traditional herbalist of Ghana, Political leaders of Ghana, and all other Professionals of Ghana, including Street boys and girls. Fellow Citizens of Ghana, where is that spirit of patriotism? We have it in us, Yes! We are patriotic by birth, you can make a difference now, I can make a difference, and together we can cause a great change in our beloved country Ghana.
Here comes Ghana! Ghana for sure! Be proud you are Ghanaian! Be a strong Ghanaian! Be a faithful Ghanaian!
Mother Ghana needs your support and allegiance, without Ghana, we are NOTHING!
Ghana, the land of treasures, peace and hospitality, the land that flows with milk and Honey.
We are patriotic! Yes! We are! Yes! We can! #VOTEGHANATHISELEXTIONYEAR Promoting Ghana to Ghanaians
